Everything from below was taken over from Tyrone L Cartwright (entry number 1)
300. Rowan Lyon Mysterious Cities of Gold
has to be one of the best animation series of all time.
Watching it again 10 years later was even better than the
first time around. I have all the eps on NTSC if anyone
wants to buy them.
299. Nick Havard I'm 16 and used to watch 'The Mysterious cities of Gold'
about 10 years ago. I'm amazed that I found a page
dedicated to it.
298. jules, loz and mish 17/18yrs, f, sydney we were talking about old tv shows when we remembered this one and how we used to love it. our memories were a
bit hazy (we thought it was the lost cities of gold, but
we all remembered the golden condor!). we wrote to the
abc to ask them if they could put it back on or give us
some info and they sent us the adress of this
site.....its really great
297. Tim Mckagan I was born in Newcastle Upon Tyne in England, 29th July
1977. There, like so many of you, I'd run home as fast as I
could to see TMoG, I watched virtually every
episode.Sadly, I missed a few due to my PARENTS!!! I think it's definately time for either the BBC or ITV
(can't remember what channel it was on)to get their act
together and bring back the best cartoon that has and
will be ever made.
296. Patricia I couldn't believe it when I saw this page!!! I used to
watch MCoG on Nick back when it was still cool. I thought
my then best friend and I were the only people who
watched it and that's why it was cancelled. I always
favored Zia even if I thought she was wishy-washy. Tau,
though-- That boy rearrainged my whole philosophy of
life. I wouldn't have become a physicist if it weren't
for him (probably). In addition i wouldn't have become so
fascinated with the ancient tribes of South America.
LET'S BAND TOGETHER AND AT LEAST GET THE VIDEOS RELEASED
IN AMERICA!!!! If anyone can put me in touch with a copy
I would be eternally grateful
295. Robert G. Collins Having watched the show in Britain in 1986 and 1989, I
despair that it has not been reshown. It is the best
cartoon ever made. Ten years on and we are still waiting.
Hopefully one day it will return.
294. Tire Miss It's 3:38 a.m. and I stumbled across this! Props to the
owner/creator of this site. I heard the opening theme and
nearly cried from nostalgia. I haven't heard that in over
a decade since they showed that on Nickelodeon...Has
anyone looked for a Japanese version on tape? (it's
easier to understand than French...)
293. Benjamin Hello from Israel! I've watched this WONDERFUL series two times: when I was
six years old and when I was nine years old. I loved the
series so much that I've read all the stuff that I could.
In fact, I think that MCoG is a four-hundreds years old
X-Files! I also love X-Files
292. EMRE Well!!What can I say.It was the best cartoon series I
havewatched ever. Thanks to the ones that organized this
page. I was born in 1979 and live in Turkey. When I first
watched MCoG on TRT1(Turkish national channel)I think I
was 9 or 10.
And last June (June 98) it was showed on
TRT1 again and I watched nearly all of it. I realized
again that it was the best among all!! (even better than
VOLTRON!!) Thanks to Slatford ,Tyrone and the others. If
someone tells me how can I get the soundtrack (CD or
casette) and a book containing the whole story I will be
glad.
291. Nicolette Lewer Hi! I was born in 1974 and I saw MCoG when I was 15 in
1989 here in New Zealand. In a year of stressful exams this
show kept me sane. I loved the music, the quest story,
the Solaris (they blew it up! *sob*) and the condor using
the Nazca lines as an airport runway was Indiana Jones
heaven I would love some MCoG e-mail pals. I also like
Babylon 5 and books speculating about a sunken Pacific
continent called Lemuria...
290. Ewen McDermott I'm 18, not sure what age that made me when Cities of
Gold first aired on the BBC. I know it was when childrens
television was worth watching. I just want to know when
the BBC are going to use their heads and put this
marvelous cartoon back on air. Also where any english
versions can be bought or obtained
289. Heather Prescott
288. Holly Rae I thought this whole show was just a cool dream I had
when I was a little kid! I decided to look it up on the
internet and I am suprised and excited to see all the
people who share in the enjoyment! Peace
287. Chris I watched MCOG when I was 5 in England. I remember nearly
everything about the episodes I watched. However, near
the end of the show, I went on holiday and missed the
end! I would do anything to get a copy of MCOG on tape,
even if it is in French.
286. Ted When I first saw the show on Nickelodeon I did not take
it seriously But after watching it twice I thought it was
quite good. I have one episode on tape - the one where
they are captured by head hunters and Esteban calls out
to the sun. I also have part of the episode where they
are in the fortress and Gaspard tries to convince Zia to
decipher the knotted rope. I am trying to obtain all of
the episodes or convince Nickelodeon the start airing the
show again. If you have VHS videotaped episodes please
E-mail me. My other hobbies are Computer generated music (MIDI) and
Star Trek.
285. afroz ali Hi I'm Afroz Ali from New Zealand Auckland I remember
when I was 6 years old I loved that show it was the best
show I ever watched it is so realistic it is probably the
best adventure cartoon show I ever saw. I've taped some
episodes and realy wish they would show it on t.v again
by the way i'm 15 years old know i realy wish my dream
would come true. bye.
284. Michael Grose (http://www.pod21.com) Long live MCoG! Actually, if anyone on the list, or
possibly new members can find tapes of the show...I'd
more than greatly appreciate it. I love this show!! Glad
I found it still exists on the web
283. Clare Beesley I first watched this when it was first on the BBC when I
was about 5. It was my favurite programme then and I
still love it now. For years I was trying to remember
what it was called, I only did about a week ago.
282. Letty Love (http://members.aol.com/AmaXENA.html) Even though the last time I saw the show was in 1987 in
Nick, I clearly remember it and Its is my all time
favorite. I never knew this was Anime until now. i
recorded the ending but its in betamax and betas are
obsolute. This is my true love, Esteban! I think in a
sequel, he be married with Zia.
281. Stuart I haven't seen an episode of MCoG for about 12 years (!)
but I still feel very nostalgic about it.
280. -=@s00tyBEAR@=- Hi there, i am 17 and when i remember this excellent show
being on television, i loved it. i even remembered
singing the theme whilst running around the house:)
Now
i sometimes wondered what ever happened to it, did it
gain fans or not, and here we are today:) im sighing in
relief that i see that there are STILL fans of this show
:).... thanks whoever made this page
279. Timothy Collett I loved & lived the series when I was about 5, and am
lucky enough to retain a tape of episodes 1-11 &
38-39 from my 7th birthday. However, I would give a great
deal to acquire the other episodes, preferably in
American format, in English, though my French is quite
good.
278. Dave Dombrosky Ahhh...the memories. I was just sitting around one day
with nothing to do so I decided to pull out an old
videotape with MCoG on it. As soon as I heard the theme
music all the great memories came rushing back. I wish
they would show this again or make more shows like this.
I don't give a damn if I'm a 17 year old guy, I'm proud
to say that my favorite show is a cartoon. I can't
believe that I was watching anime when I was that young,
but MCoG must have gotten me hooked on it 'cause I like
it so much these days. There really should be a support group
for us fans to get over MCoG withdrawal (it is normal,
right?). I chose the medallion because it can do so many
cool things. Drop me a line anytime to talk or whatever.
277. Russell Le Roy I watched the program as a kid and loved it straight
away.I have not watched it in years but would love to see
it again.
HOW CAN I GET THE VIDEOS
276. Evan Hi. I am 21 years old and from Melbourne, Australia. I
can't believe there is such a comprehensive site on the
internet on a tv show which I though hardly anybody knew
about. I am amazed that there are so many fans of this
fantastic show still remembering. I used to come home at
5:30 each night and watch this show religiously and I am
dying to get my hands on the episodes so if anybody in
melbourne has them please msg me! Actually msg me anyway
and say hello. Estebon was my fav character also.
275. Barney Hi there, I'm from Brisbane Australia. I'm 19 years of
age and I absolutely love Mysterious Cities of Gold.
Anyone in Australia (preferably Qld) who reads this
please help me to get it back on TV!!!:) This page is
really good. I have been looking for a decent MCOG page
for a long time. Congratulations to the people who put
the work in to create this page. Thankyou.
274. Stephen Morris (http://www.exeweb.co.uk/) I've just been reliving a few old TV memories and after a
good hour or so trying to remember the names of the two
shows I relly wanted to find out about, I finally got
there! I can't remember a thing about MCoG except that I
watched it avidly every week and it had a great theme
tune. Now I can relive that tune and remind myself what
the show was about! (The other mystery show - in case
your interested - was Ulysses 31)
273. Angela MCOG was the best kids TV shown ever ever ever. I say
lets start a petition to get it back on the BBC. Kids TV
now is so poor, it needs some quality cartoons.
272. LAURENT Good news for all MCog-Addicts (with a crack for French)
the whole series was released on video in 1997 by 'AK
Video'. A PAL-version was also available. Good hunt, this
series is really worth it weight--in GOLD!
271. Jacinda hey peepz!! I'm 19 and in brisbane, and thanx so much for
bringing me back to my childhood.. I loved this show so
much.. specially estaban god he was lush when I was like
8 hehe, and zia thanx for being such a great role model!! I LOVE AND WILL NEVA FORGET THA MCoG!!
270. Sabrina Hi, I'm a 17 year old Female who lives in Wollongong,
Australia. I was like so stoked when i found out that
there was people like me who did remember this show. I
used to idolise Zia, and i loved Esteban. once, i even
left my aunty hiding in a caravan park (during a game of
hida and go seek) because i head the theme song on telly.
oh how i long to see the shows again. if anyone else
lives in australia.. email: cheeztv@bigpond.com and plead
with me for them to play it! thanks! bye
269. Laure I was delighted to see that there are so many MCoG fans
around the world!! I've been a fan from as far as I can
remember (I'm 21, the cartoon is from '82). When I was
younger I wanted to have the same necklace as Zia and
Esteban! I still cherish the dream of going to Peru
someday and feel the atmoshere of the Inca ruins.
In
France the video cassettes were released in 1997, I have
bought the first six (There are ten). Like a lot of fans
I'm desperate to ever find the sountrack! Do you remember
the music when they would make some breathtaking
discoveries? Wonderful! I have to say I always thought
that it was a Franco-Japanese cartoon, because of the
names in the credits. I wonder if you can get hold of the
soundtrack in japan?
268. Quarex (http://students.uiuc.edu/~drewhunt) Man, I loved this damn show. I watched it every day of my
life back when it was on Nickelodeon in the early 80s, or
whenever that was. I know I was really young, regardless.
I am currently 20 and should technically know better than
to be doing this, but I CANNOT STOP MYSELF! I took the
name "Esteban" in my Spanish classes because of this show! IT CHANGED MY LIFE FOREVER! Maybe not, but it
still ruled.
267. Christae I'm pleased to see that my prefered shows (MCoG and
Ulysses 31) were such successes worldwide. Although I'm
now a 25 years old Frenchman, I remember these with a
great pleasure, and have just bought the MCoG videos. I
sincerely deplore that some of you were deprived of the
docs and several minutes of the show because of
commercial reasons. So the Web is a great luck for us all
to share memories (and cool stuff). Keep up the fight
with BBC:) and the good work everywhere.
266. total fan Hi everyone! id just like to say..this was my absolute
FAVORITE show when i was a little girl. Sadly, they took
the show off Nickelodeon and I havent seen the show since
about 1987 or something like that. Well, we should start
some kind of petition or something to bring it back to
regular network broadcasting in the United States and
anywhere else it used to play. HELLO to all u awesome
MCoG fans out there!!!!:)
265. SPACEBALL ENTERTAINMENT (http://www.spaceball.com) ATTENTION FANS!!!!!!!! 6 hours (commercial-free) of the ENGLISH version of
Mysterious Cities of Gold is available from FAGOT VIDEO a
division of SPACEBALL ENTERTAINMENT!!! Copies are free!(for trade) VOL 2 is in the works! please

263. Sarah Trammell ***Off the record: I know I already have a post to the
page, I just wanted to update it. Hope it's not an
inconvenience! ^_^***
I loved watching MCoG when it was
on Nickelodeon when I was just a middle-schooler. I'm
glad I was able to find this site and others who enjoyed
the series as well. Maybe someday we'll see our favorite
series on television again. I'm also otaku, and I love
Sailor Moon, Super Dimensional Fortress Macross, Voltron,
Slayers, and others as well as MCoG! Just check out my
website! ^_^
262. Andrew The Mysterious Cities of Gold is a show that shaped my
life. I used to watch it on Nickelodeon many, many years
ago in the mid 80's. Now I'm 17 and for the last 10 years
since they took it off Nickelodeon I have truly been
searching for the "Cities of Gold". I remember
the story so very well however, have not seen it in 10
years. I would pay a hefty price to see the show again.
Wat was so great about the story was that it had such an
interesting plot for a children's tv show and made you
think a bout what was going on while giving you a sort-of history
lesson (even though it was not entirely accurite). This
show is what has now created my intrest in storytelling
because the stories in the show were wonderful. Anyway, I
love MCoG and would love to see it again.
261. Neil Ogden (http://www.aip.co.uk) I remember MCoG from the 1980s when it was on as part of
Children's BBC in the days when it was hosted by Phillips
Schofield - this was before the days of Gordon the Gopher
even. And remember the day when everyone sung along with
Phillip to the theme tune? I have that on cassette -
possibly his first TV singing performance!!
I would
really like the show to be on again as it is far superior
in so many ways to the cartoons of today.
260. Josh Adell Oh my god! I was cruising around and I found this site
and everything about the show came back to me! I was a
huge fan in the late 80's (about 7 years old). I'm trying
to gain support to petition MTV to bring back the now
cult classic cartoons (Count Duckula, Danger Mouse,
Banana Man, etc.) and now I might add CoG to the list. this site has everything I remember about the show and
has resparked my love of it. Great site
259. Lee Horton Hi. 22 year old fan. Loved the show since it was on both
on BBC in 80s and on cable in the early 90s. Good news,
if you want to get all the eps (in English) I managed to
find somebody with them. He's name is Allan Lane and his
email is Lane_Allen@bah.com. He should be able to help
you. He's in America. I'm trying to get the series in PAL
so folks contact him (for NTSC) or give me time to get it
in PAL. Thanks.
258. Drew Hi, I'm from Vermont and I've been a Cites d'Or fan since
1994, when it was on SRC (a french CBC from Montreal). I
don't speak french, but the animation was so incredible
that I just couldn't stop watching! I never quite
understood what was going on in the plot though, but in
the opening theme, I loved how they combined animation,
with what I am assuming were photographs of temples.
Anyways, hearing that the show is on video almost makes
me want to run out and buy a SECAM vcr.. almost.
257. Sam It's really weird, seeing that all of the original fans
are now Uni students, It never seemed that long ago that
It was o, I can still remember rushing home to see it
every time it was on, I don't think I missed one episode,
It's really cool that there are sites like these around
to 're-live the experience' Cheers mr page creator type
bloke
256. Matthew Conaty
255. Dan Trickel Hi! I'm a 21 year old Computer Science major going to UNH. I'm a sci-fi fan whose delights are RPG's, D&D, X-Files, Magic TG, and the "Mysterious Cities of Gold". MCoG has to be one of the greatest TV shows of all time. I must have watched the show about 4 times (each time the show looped through a showing.) MCoG was a big part of my childhood. No other show has evoked the emotions that MCoG did. MCoG sparked in me an interest in Central American cultures. I've read a lot of books about the Aztecs and Inca's since then. In high school I ran an RPG based on the series. Lately I have been trying to find out as much info as I can on the series. I just happened to stumble onto this website. I didn't know there were this many fans out there. Now I am desperately trying to find copies of the show in English. If anyone knows where I could get tapes of the show please E-Mail me. If you have any other comments please feel free to E-Mail me as well.
254. Lily Sagastume MCoG was my absolute favorite show as a child. i am now
20 and am still hoping that maybe someday it will be
rebroadcasted. *sigh* i am really really hoping...
anyway, this show sparked my interest in archaeology, so
i am currently working on a degree in the field. i am
sure MCoG influenced many others as well to pursue
archaeo. well cya:oP
253. Meatball Head I loved this show...when I was little I had my mom tape
it while I was at preschool...and I still have episodes
taped and I am now 18 and that was way back in 84 and 85.
I wish they would bring the show back....but I highly
doubt that will ever happen*Smile* I am also a big fan of
Anime. My favorites are Sailor Moon and Tenchi
Muyo....well I guess that is all..feel free to e-mail me
if you wish to
252. Richard I loved this program when I was younger. I think I saw
the whole series about 3 times.
251. David Frampton Only two things to say- 1)I LOVE IT 2)MUST HAVE VIDEOS, NOW
