What can I say ? MCOG ROCKS THE CATSKILLS!!! It will always be soooo close to my heart...aaahh.*sigh*!!!:o) I love that anime so much, i think i'll name my first son Esteban - that's if i ever _have_ kids, mind! But hey, here's to passing down that outstanding series to the next generation, eh?

>>>!!!Los ciudades de oro mysteriosos para siempre!!

I can't believe it!!! I was just net browsing, and I came upon this little treasure of a homepage.  I felt like I was the only one left who could remember this show, but I am so happy I am wrong! I just downloaded the theme song, and have been listening to it nonstop for an hour.  ^_^ I keep having flashbacks.  It's benn how long? 10-12 years, at least.  I never got to see the whole thing.  I really wish we could get this back on tv, or at least released in english.

248.  charles
I remember when i was younger i used to watch the show.  I am now 15 and the show used to be on nickelodion in the mid eighties.  I would love it IF someone could respond to this.  I am looking for tapes in english.  I have 3 tapes with about a total of 10 episodes.  PLEASE respond.  thanks

247.  K8 Godwin
I nearly cried when I saw this! I remember watching this when I was younger, along with Thundercats and a cartoon with a big spaceship with a huge eye on it, there was also a guy with a beard too (can anyone tell me what this was?).
I always used to pretend I was Zia and that I could read knots, or whatever it was she did.  I'm 17 now and I watched it first time around so I guess that was about 10 odd years ago.  If anyone has any copies of MCoG I would love to hear from them.  Even better would be the full series! Congrats on the web site, I didn't realise there were still so many fans around.  What do you say to writing letters to the BBC to get it shown again? If we all did, I'm sure they'd take notice.

246.  Brian "B Syde" Sanchez
Man...  and i thought I was the ONLY person alive (In the USA i guess) who knew about MCoG!! Wassup fellas...  my name is Brian Sanchez and i'm from sunny and HOT as hell Los Angeles California.  Oh yeah...  and i'm 21/Filipino.  I remember back in the mid 80's when me and my lil' sister would reliously watch MCoG on Cable TV...  and it broke our little hearts when they stopped playing it.  Now... practically a decade later, I STILL think about how much that show meant to me! Thanks guys for letting me know that i'm not the only one

245.  Andrew
I was only 5 when I got hooked on TMCoG.  Nickelodean would always air it early in the morning.  Needless to say, I wasn't happy when it got yanked from their schedule.  I'm nearly 16 now and would love to see any of the episodes again.  I live in St.  Pete Beach, Florida. Please email me if you have info of where I could get episodes or if you just want to talk about TMCoG.

244.  Carl Firth
Hi.
I used to watch TMCOG when I was 5 in 1989, in Australia. I loved the theme music, and I used to sing it all the time in pre-school.  I remember all the staff there being amazed that I could remember all the words! But apart from the music, the best thing in the show was the Medallions that Esteban and Zia wore.  I loved thise things! Oh and Esteban was my favourite character.  I wish I could bring out the sun

I remember watching Cities of gold on Nick in the afternoon about 8-10 years ago.I can't believe that with all these fans,Cartoon Network hasn't picked this show up.Why doesn't everybody E-mail them & let them know we want it back on the air!!!!It's the best animated show ever!

242.  Jonathan
I've been looking for a Cities of Gold website for six months and finally found it! I knew it was out there.  And it's a great site! Thanks for creating it! I'm 20 and live in Richmond, VA.  I watched this show religiously back when I was a kid in elementary school, and I still love every minute of it.  I have all the episodes on tape except four (and good quality too thank goodness), and I've been watching my tapes of it over and over for the past few weeks.  I loved every part of the story, and got my interest up in Mexico and Arizona and all that.  The music is my favorite part of the show now, and I would be overjoyed to have all of the background music on CD. Please bring out a soundtrack France! I'm so glad so many other people are fans too.  The Mysterious Cities of Gold are the best! We should call Cartoon Network and get it air

241.  PQRXW
I loved Cities of Gold, I was "too old" for cartoons but.....  I'm also trying to find info on the other Nick shows that were on then?

240.  Scotty Patterson
Hi, I'm 20 yrs old and MCoG is the most awesome cartoon series ever made!! I'm studying Interactive Multimedia at Edith Cowan Uni.  I'm from Perth Australia.  I'm also a Christian! I always remembered the Solaris & the Golden Condor.  The music of MCoG rocks, oooh I love it.

239.  Brent
Man!!! I thought I was alone.  No one I know remembers this show, but I grew up watching it.  That is until it disappeared.  I remember it was suddenly switched to 5am, and (I was seven at the time) I would set my alarm, and go hide under my parents bed and watch it on their tv, because they would've killed me if they caught me, but it was worth it for MCoG.  This cartoon was such a staple in my youth, I would hum the song endlessly.  I miss it, like almost cry right now miss it!!! LOL If ANYONE know where I can get tapes, I will pay anywhere more or less of $10 per episode, I can't tell you HOW MUCH it means to me!! Thanks

238.  Peter Davies
I'm a 17 year old college student from Alltwen in Wales and I think that Cities of Gold was the best cartoon ever.  I watched it when it was shown on BBC1 in 1987 (I think it was this year) and 1989.  My favourite episode was when they were in Lake Titicata with the reeds, or the one in the Amazon Rainforest with the witch.  I have to admit that some of the characters, especially the Olmecs, frightened the life out of me when I was first watching it.  I used to tape every episode, and watch them over again, but my brother taped He-man and Transformers over them.  Does anyone know if it will be shown again, or how I can campaign to get it on again?

237.  Matthew Lenton
It's been years since i last saw this programme, and after reading the comments, i have been reminiscing.  I hope to find the videos in the shops (wishful thinking), but until then i will enjoy the full technicolour pleasure of this site.
Ciao

Wow...I can't believe all this.  MCoG was by far the most memorable experience I had growing up.  I always watched it with my two best friends at the time.  I always used to make believe that I was Esteban, and I could make the sun come out.  I'm 18 now, and I had always wondered what happened to the show.  It was so great, I didn't understand why they stopped showing it and other classics like Sebastian and Belle.  MCoG was always my favorite.  It really is a shame you can hardly get the videos anywhere. I would really like my kids (one day) to get to experience the adventure as well.

235.  Guillaume Couture
I'm a 31 yr old guy from Montreal.  MCoG had a profound influence on me, even though I was relatively old (17 yrs) when I first saw it in its original French version, circa 1983.  An incurable anime-maniac, I was watching it secretly, terrified that my friends would find out...  I taped every single episode save one.  Recently, after moving into a new home, I emptied my old boxes and found those precious tapes, to my greatest joy.  Today, as a science-fiction writer for the youth, I also realize the influence these wonderful characters, the extraordinary atmosphere of the series, had on my work.  IMHO, this show was among the most intelligent and best though-of ever. Both kids and adults could watch it with dreamy eyes.  It certainly got me interested in precolombian civilisations.  Tao was (and still is!) my favorite character, with his unimitable physionomy and personality.

234.  Josh Burlinson
I'm 19 and of the opinion that the cities of gold was the best tv show ever.  it rocks!!

233.  Benot MEZI'AIR
today I'll just say some words:I'm happy to see through the world there are a lot of people who love the MCG's and I enjoy to be french because the MCG's is a french and japanise animation.

232.  Cara
Well...  I'm 16 (born in 1982), from Sydney, Australia, love The Lord of the Rings, The X-Files and films by Stanley Kubrick and David Lean.  I absolutely adore/d MCoG.  I remember watching it religiously both times is was shown down here in the '80s (back in the good old days of the Afternoon Show.) It really is the best childrens cartoon (or any cartoon) ever made.  It was really intelligent and they took such care with it- the music, the characters, the way it blended fantasy and history...  all wonderful.  Everything I loved about MCoG I still love now.
I'm devestated that all that remains of my videoed collection are three episodes- one near the beginning, when Estaban, Zia and Mendoza are on that ship travelling to the New World, and two near the end.
The High Priest was always my favourite (I remember crying when he died in the last episode) so for lack of female characters I've picked him (Zia was cool, but she's a bit overused).  I also loved Mendoza and- strangely- Gomez and Mentator.  Excuse my rambling.  It's just so great that other people actually remember this show.

231.  Valerie King
I was boorn in 1983.  In 1988, my mother shot herself and i went to live with my grandmother.  She had cable and i started watching MCoG on Nickelodeon.  My mother did not die right away and they put her in a nursing home.  I guess i kind of identified with esteban in not seeing a parent and not knowing whether they are alive or dead.  My memory has blocked out EVERYTHING exept this show from that period in my life.  I wish i could go back.

230.  Mark Deli
Hi there.  I first watched MCoG in 1986, and it stunned me with its brilliant plots, music and animation quality.  Ah, I can still remember Philip Schofield singing the theme song at the end of the last episode.  Currently I think it is the best anime series in existence.  (also, IMHO Laputa is the best anime movie, and Nausicaa is the best manga).  I also like most fiction written by J.R.Tolkein (especialy Lord of the Rings - that's the best fantasy book ever! ^_^ ..and the Hobbit), and I also like lots of anime and manga, such as Vision of Escaflowne, Macross 7 and El Hazard.

Well that's all for now, and hopefully I'll have an MCoG website up soon!
*The picture included is from Laputa, not MCoG

229.  Malcolm
I watched Cities of gold when I was 8 in 1989.  I did not record it, but watched it from the first episode.  After so many years I can only remember small areas of the story but I can remember enough to say it is the best cartoon I have ever seen.  I wish it would come out on video in England like it has in France.

228.  Sam Jeffreys
I live in the UK and saw the show whenever it was on (a long, long time ago!) - And, of course, I loved it...It really should be on again.  Even though it's been many years since I saw the show, that excellent theme song has remained in my head.  A great show, what more can I say? Oh yeah - Anyone remember "Battle Of The Planets"? That was another old Japanese cartoon series I watched when I was young, and it was fantastic and needs to be re-shown! There's not enough quality TV anymore!:(

227.  Gavin Thomson
Hi!My name is Gavin.I am 14 and live in Scotland.I used to watch MCoG when I was younger and very ill in hospital.I remembered about it a few weeks ago and since then I have been trying to find out as much as possible. If you have it on video I will do anything to get it.At the moment all I have is memories.

226.  andy
I used to watch this when it was on the BBC along with Dogtanian, Willy Fog and Prince Valiant.  But MCoG was always my favourite, it was so atmospheric, dramatic and the story was amazing.  I'm a 19 year old student in York, England and most of my friends here are fans too! Otherwise, I love Nirvana and Smashing Pumpkins.

225.  Draygan
I remember watching MCoG on Nickelodeon here in the States when I was really young.  Not only was it interesting because of it's ties to the history it draws from, but it was more 'real' than many of the other cartoons we had at the time (and still have!).  Other than Robotech (which is also no longer shown) or Voltron, that is.  Rather than wrap each episode up in a nice neat package where no one really got hurt (a la G.I.  Joe), it was one of two or three 'epic' style cartoon series with an incredible storyline where few punches were pulled and where the characters came to life with the excellent writing.  I'm surprised that no company in the US after all this time has decided to distribute MCoG.

224.  Jai Jai Gale
I was born in '81 and remember watching the show as a kid with my sister.

I think I watched just about every episode of the show and thought that it was brilliant.  It just contained so much more than any other cartoon that I've seen to this day.  Whilst it was years ago that I saw the cartoon, I can still vividly remember the golden-eagle coming to life and the city it's self destroying the flying ship...Fantastic stuff.  It should receive the worldwide following it desereves:)

223.  Rachel (http://www.angelfire.com/sc/beanbag)
i absolutely LOVED this show SO much..  to be quite honest i can hardly remember it at all because i was only really young when it was on, as i am only 17 now but according to my sister i'd go through hell or high water to get to see it..:) i'd love to get in touch with anyone who shares this passion with me..  btw this is a damn great page!:)

222.  George Phillips/Cookie
Originally watched MCoG as a little kid, and remembered while talking with several friends about old animations...  I'm a formerly diehard fan of it, though, and wouldn't mind becoming a diehard fan (again).

221.  Aripa (Tao)
this site is the greatest.  I can't believe there are so many MCOG lovers like myself out there.  And we're all the same age too (20s).  But I'm not British.  This show was one of the best from my childhood.  And I hate how most of my friends have never heard of it.  I am not alone. Somebody please cancel that Power rangers' crap and show this lost gem again.  By the way, a great site.  You brought back magical memories.

220.  DougLas Brown

i thought i was the only fan!! i was hoping theyd be english videos of the series released - oh well.

218.  Ian Roberts
I'm from Durham in the UK and am currently at Oxford University studying English.  I watched MCoG when it was first on the BBC and I've loved it since.  I can't remember many episodes but I remember the characters, the condor, the ship...  There was this one episode that gave me nightmares and made me scared of ants because these baddies were going to throw Esteban into this big ant hive to be eaten!!!

What I do know is that MCoG is the stuff dreams are made of.  I would do anything to see them again and I hope I can find them in the UK soon.

217.  Cheetara5
I love this show I have the complete taped series we taped from Nick.  I will e-mail them to get it back on.

216.  Charlie
I'm a little embarrassed to say I am one of the oldest fans at age 30 (from Saugus, CA).  I use to watch the show on Nickelodeon after my college classes! Cool to see a web page dedicated to this series.  Hopefully, there can be a English version set on DVD someday...

215.  Rose
I LOVE the MCofG.  I watched it everyday! Me and my cousins used to act it out and i was always Zia.  I really wish they would put it back on tv because it is one cartoon that is actually worth watching.  I think we should all protest until we get this show back on air!

214.  Jeff
Uhoh...  Now this is something I had almost forgotten about completely...  But after stumbling across your site, MCoG memories came rushing back...  Thankyou! I'm determined to find some episodes! (Tao is so cute...  Its almost unbearable..)

Hi i'm 15, and from Southend in England.  One of the best parts of the show for me is definately the music.  I also used to watch it with these twins from Grenada, who i miss very much! I NEED the sound-track!

211.  Alison (Lady Minerva)
How come I'm the last to find this site!!! I LOVED cities of gold!! I used to be an avid viewer of it in the late 80's when I was about 8 years old! What a fantastic show!! The theme tune was ace! And I especially liked Tao, my favourite character!!

210.  Laura Little
I watched the mysterious cities of gold when I was little and I am now 22 and wish it still came on.

204.  Tom
Hi i live in England and i used to love this programme.  I really think they should show it all again, because kids tv is really bad at the moment.

203.  Blue Eddy
I'm 23 and from England and when I start reminissing with my friends the conversation often makes a be line for the days of the CBBC broom closset and Epic cartoon series of that eara such as Willy Fog, Ulesses & bell and sebastian but the most abiding memory is always singing along to the opening of City's of Gold and the sight of the Golden Condor Gliding in to the sunset.  Whatever happened to these rare gems.

202.  ZiaSol
Am an archaeology student at the weirdly legendary University of Arizona in Tucson, AZ And I never would have known what I was interested in if it wasn't for watching MCOG when I was ten.  MCOG is addicting.  I WISH they had made more episodes or would at least consider doing so.  Maybe hiring some of us to do it.  Yeah

201.  Lettsy
I once had every episode recored from Childrens BBC in 1986, but have been lost over the years.  The best cartoon series to be produced EVER!!!!!
